All the Pretty Colors

Swimsuit time. Memorial Day weekend is almost upon us. I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to this long weekend, no work and plans for fun in the sun. I like this weekend because it signifies that it is officially the start to summer. Three months of glorious sun! Which in turn means, it's also officially swimsuit time. Gotta have a cute new suit to make a splash.

Check out all the pretty colors...

What's your favorite swimsuit style? I am usually a triangle bikini gal myself. However, it seems this summer I can't help but gravitate toward the retro high waisted bikinis, they look so cute and classic. I think my favs out of this line up are the light green bikini number and the dark blue one-piece sailor suit.

Got any fun plans for the weekend? Do tell.

PS. Have the models gotten skinnier or have I just eaten too much of my fair share of LSL foodie Fridays and frozen yogurt? Too teeny-tiny if you ask moi.

Pink-spiration

My current crush of the moment: pale pink.

This current crush is wanting to me to buy and paint everything pale pink. And good news, Vogue is telling me that pale pinks are in this season. (they are my bible and they do know best) ;)

What colors are you currently crushing on? Are you feeling pretty in pink like me?

L

PS. Okay, can we talk about how fabulous those curtains are in the 2nd photo, the wall color of the 3rd one, the shirt dress of the 4th one, and the ornate mirror of the last one. Wowza is all I'm gonna say.

Color Me Bad

Neon is having such a moment right now...

I love the pops of color. And I especially love the idea of adding neon pieces to the home or office. It seems to perk up any room and you definitely don't need much, a chair here or a lamp there will do.

I also enjoy the pops of color added to everyday outfits. I think for me though, I would take a little more of a subtle route. I had my hay day of neon wearing when I was a kid, (those were the days!) this time around I might add a neon yellow belt or some hot pink flats to my closet, that would suit me just fine. I have to say I do kind of like reverting back to my 1986 fashions but in today's style. And is it just me or does neon seem a little chicer this time around?

What do you you think about the neon trend? Were you also a wild child of the 80's? Miss anything thing from that era like I do? I wasn't a big fan of the hairstyle back then, with the extra large bangs and all that hairspray, but if I could get NKOTB, banana clips and hyper color shirts back, that would be a whole 'nother thing.

L

Promising in Peplum

Peplum is "a short overskirt that is usually attached to a fitted jacket, blouse or dress." (thankyouwiki) And if you are anything like me, you have noticed this look has blown up all over the blog-o-sphere lately. I know the peplum style has been around for a while, but it seems to be coming back with even more gusto than before. I remember a specific peplum-style jacket I bought myself with my babysitting money back in high school, I wore the hell out of it. I don't remember it being a particularly flattering look since it hit at my generous-sized hip area and not at my smaller, more flattering, waist area, but I sure didn't seem to care.

I'm glad this look coming back into fashion and think my favorite, my most wish-I-could-wear-it-myself, look is the peplum style dresses. They just scream such a 1950's lady-like, retro, Audrey Hepburn vibe. If only I wasn't blessed with those my damn hips and thighs, I would be all over this. But, even though I believe the dress/skirt style is not for moi, the peplum-style can look great in short jackets and shirt styles too.

Check out these lovelies for yourself...

And now for my favorite part, let's go shopping...all pictures are linked to their stores, below

Yes please, to the J.Crew floral shirt. Thankyouverymuch.

And a holy hell, I need that white jacket!

What do you think of the peplum look? Fan? Not a fan? Anything in particular you need on that shopping list? (cough...that white jacket...cough) Did you have any wonderful "looks" that you rocked in high school that might not have been so fashionable then...or now?

Oh, and did I forget to mention that I might have been a slight tom-boy all for most of HS and, in addition, also thought of myself as a super soccer star (even though I only made it to the JV team...whatever!) so I mostly only wore that Adidas brand. Yeah, that with my peplum-style jacket, probably not my finest look.
