LSL {Housetour} - Retro Metro's Houseboat Style

Well it's that time again of year again, time for my annual house boating trip. Think sun, booze, swimming, floaties, and more booze. Just the way I like to end my summer right. And while we are upgrading for a fancier boat this year (we're such adults) it's only something we do for a long weekend.

Last year I featured this full-time livable house boat beauty on the River Thames in London. This year, I found two retro-lovin' lovelies and their two dogs who live on their houseboat all year in Long Beach, CA. Two very different styles but one very livable space.

How 1970-ish is this?

While it's not exactly my interior style, I do have to say that every time I go on my houseboat trip I do feel like I'm time warped back into the 70's. I love that they have embraced that and made their home so retro and cozy. What do you think about a full-time life on a houseboat? For me, it's just a long weekend deal.

Happy (early) weekend!

Reese's Ojai Oasis

Reese Witherspoon's house in Ojai. In September's issue of Elle Decor. I die.

Sorry for the mellow dramatics, but the "I die" is that I have always said that when I grow up I want to move to Montecito and be neighbors with Miss Oprah and Jennifer Aniston. We would all hang out, have coffee dates, maybe I could even reap some of the benefits of Miss O's generosity? You never know! (cough...O's favorite things...cough)

So, when I finally had a hot minute to myself (and not in the throes of summer camp) I got a chance to sneak peek the Sept issue of Elle Decor, (thank you email blast) and I was immediately smitten. To be totally honest, I was neither here nor there about Miss Reese and her movie choices and acting abilities. I have liked most of her movies and think that she and I could probably be friends. Cause you know, that's usually how I judge celebs, if we could be friends or not? And M-town and Ojai aren't too far away from each other. ;) But then when I peeped her Spanish ranch style home filled with it's high ceilings of exposed wood, Spanish tile and those rod-iron details, it sealed the deal in my head. This lady has the house that is everything this gal loves. And yes, we definitely could be friends.

On to my favorite's game, so I've mentioned this before but definitely love those high exposed wood beam ceilings, then second would be the reading nooks in each of the bedrooms, okay and then that hot pink ikat chair in the 5th photo will round out my most favorites out of all. (and you know that was really hard for me to narrow down)
What's your favorites? Do you also day dream about Spanish-style houses like me? Well, yes that's just another tiny tidbit about me...my Spanish ranch house admiration.

LSL {Housetour} - Amanda Peet's Place

I was over at the parent's house this weekend to celebrate Father's Day and in addition to always loving going there (ahem...laundry) my Mom has a great collection of magazines that get refreshed every month: Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and so on. But what really caught my eye this visit was the latest issue of Vogue that features the lovely Miss Amanda Peet's abode. She shares her home with Screenwriter David Benioff (Game of Thrones, anyone?!) and their two girls. While Miss Peet is a NY girl through and through, her Hollywood Hills home is all CA, with it's Spanish style elements and open airy rooms.

I can see why this NYC native can easily call LA home.

Time for "what's my favorite part" game. So, besides how adorable Amanda Peet and her children are, I think it would be that entry way. Wowza! Wait, or is it the pool? Too effortlessly chic for me. To read the interview and see even more snapshots, go here.

LSL {The Lovely List} - The Everygirl

The Everygirl website has been up and running for just over six months now. It first came across my radar somewhere over the blog-o-sphere (probably in a pinterest induced haze) and I have been hooked on their site ever since. It's a great resource for that "Everygirl" in any stage of her life.  If you don't believe me, well their manifesto speaks for itself:
The Everygirl, LLC, is the newest online resource helping shape the creative, career-driven woman to experience her life better lived. It is the inspiration to help you achieve your dreams, whatever they may be. Whether it’s how to incorporate a little creativity into your day or motivating you to seek out your dream job, The Everygirl is for you. It is our mission and hope for you to use The Everygirl site to be inspired, but also to take action to become the woman who believed you could, so you did!
And to toot this websites horn even more, today, Danielle and Alaina (the super talented co-founders) did a feature on one of my favorite bloggers, Erin Gates of Elements of Style and Erin Gates Design. I simply love her office decor and I have a feeling I'm going to be that girl that totally copies boldly emulates her style in to my own home.

Consider this my "mood" board for my, hope-to-one-day-afford-all-this-fabulous-stuff, apartment.

A great quote to live by!

It a clean, simple space with so much amazing details to catch your eye. To read Erin's interview and to see even more pretty pictures, go here

Okay, let's play my "what's your favorite part"?, game. Well, for my fellow francophiles, you might have guessed it was the large scale art (didn't I just have this conversation?). ;) But I think it's a tie between that beautiful grey hutch filled with fabulous fabric swatches and those amazing zebra, partly French-style chairs. Yes, please! Oh! And okay, maaaybe that "I Love You Blogs & Coffee" print. I really need to get me one of those.

What's your favorite part?

LSL {Housetour} - Estate of Grace, Tory Burch

While perusing around Vogue's website, I stumbled upon Miss Tory Burch's new Southampton home and, wow oh wow is it amazing! I adore TB's fashion sense and to me she is the epitome of style and grace. I don't think there is a piece of clothing from any of her many lines that I wouldn't want to own. And don't even get me started on her accessory line, I'm seriously in love with every. single. piece.

Hamish Bowles states it perfectly in describing Tory's 1920's style home, how it seems like it's a house one might find described within the pages of The Great Gatsby. "It is the sort of house that Jay Gatsby might have built to bedazzle Daisy Buchanan and win her heart back again..." With the long dramatic driveway, the beautiful way Tory designed the outdoor dining in her pool house with the use of the black trellis accents. What I appreciate most is how Tory isn't afraid of mixing patterns and textures, which also seems to mirror in her clothing designs, and can be seem throughout the house. How amazing it would be to take this housetour in real life? For now I'll daydream by re-reading my worn out copy of The Great Gastby and picturing myself walking through this beautiful estate and checking out all her lovely treasures.

Now on to my favorite game, what's your favorite part? Mine would have to be that beautiful chandelier in the above picture, or is it the wallpaper in the shown in the living room, (picture 4) or is it the pool house? Ahh, I just can't decide. What do you think of Tory's Southampton home?

LSL {Housetour} - Cabin Fever

I am heading to the snow this weekend. Well, that is if Tahoe even has snow on the ground this week. I think so? I hope so! I can't remember the last time I was up to Tahoe in the winter. Sadly it might have even been up to five years ago or more. (Yikes!) Personally I am not built for the snow (sorry my cabin friends for all my complaining in advance) I adore Tahoe in the summer; sunbathing on the beach, swimming in the lake, and being on a boat is one of my favorite things in the whole world. Basically the complete opposite of being bundled up, skiing, and slipping and sliding in the snow. Since it's been so long, I am looking forward to frolicking in the snow again, and when I say frolick, I mean drinking hot toddies and catching up on my books and gossip mags.

I have been lusting after this cabin house for some time now. THIS is how I picture my weekend in the snow. All bundled up in that Hermes blanket, reading one of the many books featured in their fancy library, and then taking a nice bubble bath in that incredible tub. Oh how a girl can dream. I imagine the cabin we'll be staying at is the exact opposite of this lovely abode.

I die. I can just picture myself curled up on one of these fab velvet couches listening to the crackling fire.

Gah! Bunk beds with their own personal curtains. When can I move in?

A sunroom! Okay I just died again. I cannot get over how amazing this winter wonderland is.

Happy long weekend lovelies! Foodie Friday is still on for tomorrow but I'll be back on Monday or Tuesday with some more regularly scheduled broadcasting. That is if I don't turn into a Lauricle there. (see what I did there...a Lauren icicle. Haha. As long as I'm the only one that thinks I'm funny.)

LSL {Housetour} - Houseboat

When I think of houseboats, I think of this. The houseboat in Lake Shasta my friends and I revisit every year. In fact, I will be there this weekend. (including the over 100 degree temps all weekend!) I know it's not the most glamorous of all vacations, but it has to be the most fun. My weekend will include sunning, swimming, drinking, sunning, eating, sleeping, and more sunning.

Now, with all that envy-ridden information out of the way, I wanted to show off an actual, very glamourous, full-time livable Houseboat on the River Thames in London.

This is author Josie Curran's family home. She wanted an escape from the busy city streets of London and found this gem, and as they say, the rest is history. Her home is simply delightful. I love all the bright colors and little vignettes featured all around. Man, that bedroom is to die for. And that bookshelf, that picture is being filed away in the "must have when I grow up" file.

What was your favorite part of Josie home? What do you think of living in a houseboat full time? Could you do it?

L
