Liz Lovi, Photographer

All this Royal Wedding hoopla has me in sort of a sentimental, wedding style kind of mood. It doesn't hurt that I am attending three weddings (including all the festivities, aka: bridal showers, bachelorette parties, rehearsals) in just six months and am IN two of them (do that math!).

So, yes, weddings are on the brain.  What I learned (by living vicariously, of course) is the most important thing for a bride and groom to have is an amazing photographer. Someone that will capture all your significant memories of the day; the little laughs shared between flower girls, the look of the groom as he sees his bride for the first time, all the sweet memories that may get glossed over in the craziness of the big day.

I am very fortunate to have an incredible photographer as one of my very best friends. Liz Lovi is simply amazing. In addition to weddings, Liz can capture all your big moments: from engagements, to family photos, to portraits, new baby pictures, and pregnancy shots. She really can do it all.  But enough with all this talk, I'll let her work speak for itself.

Check out her blog and facebook for even more loveliness.

So yes, I am a bit biased.  But that aside, the simple fact is she is great at what she does and she'll make you feel right at home in front of the camera.

Please think of Liz for your next big life moments, I know I will.

Royal Wedding

So, it's all over the news, the web, basically everywhere. There will be a Royal Wedding and it's happening in about a day. Personally I am beyond excited!  There is some fascination for me about the Royal Family, the traditions behind a King and Queen annnnd what girl as a child didn't want to marry her very own prince?

I stumbled upon The Tomkat Studios blog the other day (you really should check it out, simply fabulous) and they had a great compilation paying tribute to William and Kate and their big day. And you can even get {free} downloadable cupcake toppers, you know, if you are planning on celebrating the big day with some sweet treats.  If I had thought about it ahead of time, I would love to throw a big party with lots of tea, sweets and very big hats!

Next, if you are planning on making something sweet, I would highly recommend you should jaunt on over to With Style and Grace for a the most lovely sounding cupcakes I've ever heard of, Champagne Cupcakes with Strawberry Filling. Sure sounds fit for a future queen.

What are your plans for the big celebration?  Getting together with friends at 1:00am for the pre show or sleeping in and watching it the next day on E?  Yeah, I'm planning on the latter of the two, while wearing my big hat, of course.

L

LSL {Thoughts & Quotes} - Forgiveness

This week has me thinking about forgiveness.  Of all emotions this has to be one of the most difficult to achieve, but also the most rewarding once obtained. Having anger and/or disappointment towards someone is time consuming as well as draining.  Letting go is a powerful thing and it's probably the most overlooked and easily dismissed emotion. It takes work to forgive and strength to maintain.

I am working on forgiveness because it is important, not only for me to grow as a person but for my own spirit. It's a humbling reminder that everyone is human and there is always a lesson learned through every experience.

Happy Earth Day!

I like Earth Day. I like a day to remind all of society to be kind to the planet that we live on.  To respect it and treat it right.  Remember to do the little things like recycle, carpool, start a garden, and go camping.  Camping?  Yes, every year Earth Day comes around and I am reminded how I have not been camping in quite a long time.  I know it's a weird association but a day about getting in touch with nature reminds me just how out of touch I am with it.  While I enjoy camping, I'm not necessarily very good at it.  I definitely couldn't lead the troops to be able to set up a tent (I would definitely need a kindergarten-aged instruction manual) nor would I be the person to set up the fire and trying to fish, forget about it. Don't get me wrong, I merely need a kind and very patient instructor, then I'm all in. And, I do love the time with friends around the campfire, the smells and sounds of the trees around us, the stargazing, and the definitely the smores!

I stumbled across a post from Kelley Moore's blog a while back about "Glamping" meaning "Glamourous Camping" and I thought to myself, I could definitely handle that.  Check out this beautiful glamping retreat she created in her backyard for Seattle Magazine.

The best part about Kelley Moore's take on glamping is that most of the goods used are from two of LSL's favorite places: Ikea and Target. You too can create your own glamping retreat.

Wishing you a lovely Earth Day and don't forget to be kind to your mother...Earth.

TRADhome

I know I said I wouldn't do any more online mags for awhile, well, I lied.  I think the online magazine craze has to be my new favorite thing. I do wish I could have hard copies just to be able to touch and scour over every page but, having archives online that I can't lose is a win-win in my book.

If Lonny Magazine and Traditional Home had a love child, TRADhome is that baby.  It. is. amazing. The pictures are pure inspiration. I think half my desktop is saved with screen shots of this beautiful magazine. And don't get me started about the section on the "New 20 Trad Designers" it blows my mind. Such extrodinary and different design concepts.  I would have a hard time deciding what I "style I would be" if I had chose just one?
So, without further ado, TRADhome...

Great combo of three Starburst mirrors

Loving the mirrored console and textured seat

I need those pillows

...and that striped wallpaper
Wall o' pictures, yes please!
How wonderful is this bed?
Chandeliers + Look So Lovely = a favorite!
More stripes
If you know me at all you know I would never be able to pick just one Trad Designer, I think my top three "New Trad Designer" choices are: Patrik Lonn with "Light Roots," Ron Marin with "The Masculine Touch" and the amazing design ladies from Nate Berkus Design, Lauren Gold and Sasha Adler with "Hot, Haute House."

I think you just have to see it for yourself. Enjoy!

Matthew Williamson for Macy's

It's true, Mr. Williamson has launched his fun, flirty, extra girly spring collection at Macy's yesterday! AND it's only available for a limited time, a la, trends of Target.

I'm loving all the vibrant colors mixed with animal prints in these made-to-look retro advertisements.
This yellow dress is darling

I am OBsessed with this dress!
A little bold for me but I like the yellow, leopard and purple combo

Now for some Look So Lovely favorites from Macy's website

Koolots are back and seriously cute

WANT!
NEED!
Loving the extra material to play with

Head over to Macy's and scoop these great finds up.  They start as low as $59.  And no this was not an advertisement or paid post, I just love finding good deals from great designers and feel it's my duty to spread the news. From one frugal fashionista to another.

L

PS. I hear Karl Lagerfeld is next in line for a Macy's caspule collaboration. Can't wait!

What to Say?

It's official, I started this blog a little over a month ago and I already have writer's block, is it really possible?

via - flickr

It seems that life has gotten a bit busy this last week and I would rather just sit and drink my coffee and gossip, like these lovely ladies, instead of writing.  Maybe it's that I have too many ideas?! (suuuure) Well, I'm telling myself that at least. So, with that said, go out enjoy the spring-ish weather, find a friend and share some coffee talk, that's what I'll be doing.

Until next time...

And Another Thing....

I just can't keep up! Just discovered another lovely online mag, Styled.  This is a very sweet magazine, loaded full of party planning ideas, recipes, and DIY goodies.  Check it out here.

PS. I promise this blog will not turn into a magazine review site, it just so happens that ALL three of these launched within a week of each other and how could I not share?!  They are simply lovely to look thru.  But, next week on to new, no online mag, material. (Unless another fabulous mag launches then that rule is out the window! Just kidding....)
